Paradise Kiss (パラダイス・キス, Paradaisu Kisu)

And so I was inspired to write again. Lol.

For this blog entry, I decided to introduce my second favorite anime made by the same author of Nana(Oh yes I'am much enthralled by Yazawa's works). This anime had a big impact on me, because I started to create clothing pattern after I watched this. Well, it's not really a boring love story. Fashion, love, dreams and lust are all put together in this anime. The story revolves around Yukari and George(who is obviously hot). Yukari is a typical high-school student who listens to her parents and attends school everyday. As she starts to question her way of life, she encounters a group of fashion design students who has a clothing label known as "Paradise Kiss". The group needs to find a model to showcase their designs in an up-coming fashion show and decides to pick Yukari instead. Initially, Yukari was reluctant to be associated with this seemingly eccentric group, but eventually, she realizes that they are really nice people. Furthermore, their passion and enthusiasm to follow their ideals and dreams make Yukari realise that she has not been enjoying her life and this motivated her to pursue her own dreams. Beiing able to interact with this eccentric group, Yukari finds herself falling in love with George, an extremely charismatic student of Yazagaku, who is also the leader of the group.
The way it is drawn may not be good for those who likes modern animes with very detailed drawings, but it has a good story. ;]

Characters:

Yukari "Caroline" Hayasaka (早坂紫, Hayasaka Yukari)
Yukari is the heroine of the story, a high school student who is tired of the meaningless and repetitive life that has been forced upon her by her uptight mother. She eventually models for Paradise Kiss after being "kidnapped" by Isabella and whisked away to Paradise Kiss' "atelier". She is often referred to, inexplicably, as "Caroline" by Miwako.

Jōji "George" Koizumi (小泉譲二, Koizumi Jōji)
George is an eccentric, handsome, and extremely charismatic student of Yazagaku who has extraordinary talent with a gift for fashion design, haute couture in particular. Despite his cold demeanor, he has extravagant ideas on everything, most of which are not accepted by the general public. He wants Yukari to become an independent woman, as well as a girl that will take responsibility for her own mistakes. He considers himself bisexual, or as he says, "an equal opportunity lover"; he also makes constant reference to how good he is with knots, and offers to tie people up repeatedly. His appearance is loosely based on Brian Slade of Velvet Goldmine, and several references to the film are made by him in the manga.

Miwako Sakurada (櫻田実和子, Sakurada Miwako)
A student of Yazagaku who works with George to run their own brand, Paradise Kiss. She is the younger sister of the Happy Berry brand's creator/president, Mikako Kouda.

Arashi Nagase (永瀬嵐, Nagase Arashi)
Arashi is a student of Yazagaku with a taste for punk style, piercings, and alternative music. He is Miwako's boyfriend, they have both known each other--along with Hiroyuki Tokumori--from childhood.

Daisuke "Isabella" Yamamoto (山本大助, Yamamoto Daisuke)
Isabella is the mother figure to the members of ParaKiss. This tall Yazagaku student is the epitome of high class and femininity. Isabella inspired George's very first dress during childhood, and often had the habit of taking every piece of clothing that he finished.

Have fun trying out this anime.

Nana (ナナ)

I'm sure all Otakus out there would love to talk about Nana(ナナ), and I for one would love to talk about it. This anime has touched my heart so much, because I can pretty much relate to Hachiko, the way she acts reflects me. The story is so great that I'am caught in it. Its genre revolves around Drama, Josei, Music, Romance, Slice of Life and Tragedy. At first, I was addicted to " Clannad ", but when I saw this anime I was so freaking caught up by the story. It's so real, you can feel the emotions in the every episode of manga and anime. I admit that I have cried many times while watching this anime. It's kinda depressing but you'll see that the world of reality is caused by pain, it's like waking up from a beautiful dream and when you experience pain you'e back to reality. It depicts life and struggles. The creator, Ai Yazawa, is a great writer. She also wrote " Paradise Kiss " which is also an anime that depicts a slice of life. I recommend this to a lot of my friends who likes " slice of life " animes, because it's the best. Japanese fanatics even held a Nana Convention(ナナ) for the aime. It was the biggest hit in Japan when it aired. The manga version was so successful that they made an anime adaptation, as well as two live-action films. The first twelve volumes of the manga series have cumulatively sold over 22 million copies. In 2005, it has sold over 34,500,000 making it the fourth best selling shōjo manga worldwide.

Summary:

On board the train to Tokyo to meet her boyfriend Shoji, Nana Komatsu ("Hachi") happened to sit beside Nana Osaki who was traveling to Tokyo to fulfill her dreams of becoming a musician. The vocalist for her punk band "Blast", Nana aims for a major debut for "Blast" in Tokyo where her boyfriend, Ren, is the guitarist for a popular band "Trapnest". Sharing the same name "Nana", both girls quickly form a bond of friendship. Their paths cross again when they encounter each other while searching for accomodation in Tokyo. Eventually they decide to live together in the same unit and this further strengthens their bond as the two "Nana(s)" go through their love lives and career.

So, this is all for now. Next time, I'll introduce the characters.

Anime Lovers Enter Here!

So after a day of tremendous rain, and me being stuck in bed because I was sick(Oh god! >:3), I decided to check out my favorite Anime's and see if they uploaded new episodes. First stop, we have "Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When seagulls cry)";

It's not really a nice anime for small children to watch because it involves a lot of gore, and yes it is a bit gorish and disturbing, but I came to like the anime because of its story. I'am a fan of psychological and gorish anime. This anime revolves around the red-haired guy named "Battler" and the Endless Witch "Beartrice", the story started with a lot of murder and a lot of suspicion and as the first chapter ended, Battler denied the existence of Beatrice as a witch who killed them all with her magic, so Beatrice played a game with him to prove that she is behind all the murder and that she used magic. If you try to watch this anime, you'll get a little pyscho with all of the different twists in the story. If anyone of you guys know "Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, Kai, Rei" you'd probably get the hang of Umineko, since the one who created Umineko was also the one who created Higurashi.

Enjoy watching Umineko!
